Alcyon’s Toolkit

Alcyon’s Toolkit is meant to be the first IP platform open to the integrated photonics community.

Alcyon’s Toolkit is a collection of software packages and modules that provides layout tools for the daily work of photonic integrated circuits (PIC) designers together with libraries of Photonic IP Cores (PIP Cores®), facilitating the exploratory innovation and even the creation of new solutions around them.

The software packages, seamlessly integrated with KLayout, provide PIC designers with a powerful toolkit to streamline their workflow. These tools are designed to reduce the need for extensive programming, allowing designers to focus more on their creative work, and less on the technical intricacies. Alcyon’s Toolkit contains features for the creation of building blocks, their organization in libraries and the Layout Creator Module. The latter greatly facilitates the automation of the circuit design process, placing and connecting building blocks by scripting.

The portfolio of IP libraries is continuously growing to enrich the proposal. The PIP Cores within the libraries contain from PIC components or building blocks (splitters, couplers, etc) to more advanced topologies (tunable components, reconfigurable PICs, etc). The libraries are distributed as separate installable packages on top of the Toolkit, including: Klayout libraries with PIP Cores as parametric cells and black boxes, compact models compatible with Ansys Lumerical and a comprehensive documentation.
